Putting Pen to Paper, Mar/Apr Edition
EMBRACING CHANGE AND A NEW LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE “Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values” – Dalai Lama
During April, following the sale of Alliance Medical, Life Healthcare announced some changes to the leadership. These changes were necessary to ensure a smooth transition, retain key healthcare experience, and enable us to deliver on our strategy going forward. With that said, however, I am thrilled Adam will continue to be involved in the strategic direction of our business. His extensive experience and expertise will continue to be an invaluable asset to our company as a whole. In this edition of my newsletter, I am happy to share the latest updates to our systems and services, as well as celebrate our colleagues who have reached new heights. Read on to get the highlights.

Our strategy unpacked
Over the past several months, my leadership team and I have worked closely with PriceWaterhouseCoopers to refine our strategy. Working with an external partner has been both insighful and eye-opening because it has forced us to take an honest, open look at ourselves and our business. Since then, we have refined our strategy to ensure that it clearly reflects our vision. With this important piece now complete, I look forward to sharing it with you. In the coming weeks, the leadership will present the strategy to you, and together, we will unpack what it means to practically demonstrate our pillars in our everyday work. At the end of its rollout, we hope that each one of you will clearly understand the vision, our direction and where you valuably fit. Change Management and Marketing will collaborate to support the implementation of this initiative and will communicate more about this in due course.
Life Health Solutions launches its B2B podcast series Over the past several months, Life Health Solutions has been carefully crafting and producing podcasts as a new market opportunity to reach business-to-business audiences, engage like-minded listeners, and build our brand. We’re happy to announce that our podcast series – entitled “A Better Place of Business" – is ready and will be released in May. This first season features six episodes hosted by prominent keynote speaker and coach Linda Mzamane, who engages with subject matter experts, including our own CEO, Pete Wharton-Hood, among others. The series also features industry captains from Werksmans Attorneys, Mpact, and Adidas. Together, they discuss mental wellness, progressive leave policies, executive wellness, tackling emergency preparedness, and more. By sharing insights, trends, and our expertise, we aim to establish ourselves as thought leaders within the wellness and occupational health business. |

We celebrate the successful pilot of the ViGOR system
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who were part of the successful rollout of ViGOR, our Primary Healthcare and Occupational Health system. Since its rollout to pilot sites in November 2023, ViGOR has been implemented at several of our onsite and offsite clinics. It has changed the way we do things and has eliminated the need to manually capture medical records or manually issue certificates of fitness. To date, our clinics have processed and issued more than 6,000 digital certificates. With these digital transactions, we are able to tap into valuable data and gain deeper insights into our clients' health risks, which previously would have taken a substantial amount of time and effort to collect. Through the continued evolution of ViGOR, we can expect to see greater advancements in the way we take care of our clients.
Congratulations, Novia One Class of 2023
We are proud to announce the graduates of the Novia One Business Administration and Customer Management (NQF 5) learnership programmes. In its second year of offering learnerships to employees, Life Health Solutions hopes to help them increase their value in the workplace by acquiring new business skills and upskilling themselves. Twenty individuals entered the one-year learnership programme in June 2023 using Novia One Business School as our training partner. A virtual graduation ceremony was held on 23 April to celebrate this milestone.
Bruce Janssens commended the graduates for persevering and going the extra mile over and above their day-to-day workload. The Novia One course facilitator, Hendrik Nel, was particularly impressed with their passion throughout and with the collaboration and ideas they presented. Jade to the rescue!
In March, we posted a story on LinkedIn about Jade Hanekom, a Business Manager and an Intermediate Life Support (ILS) practitioner, who heroically came to the aid of a traffic officer who had been involved in a serious car accident. Since we published the story, it has been one of our most popular posts to date.
