Putting Pen to Paper, Nov/Dec Edition

Your words have power

Words can inspire. And words can destroy. Choose yours well” – Robin Sharma.

Looking back over the year, I am happy to recall all the things we’ve accomplished together. We’ve launched new services such as Fatigue Risk Management, Health and Safety Audits and Health Risk Assessments. We launched on Instagram while exponentially growing our social presence on LinkedIn. We also launched new products – such as the Life App, Genesys Cloud, and ViGOR.

With each touchpoint, we had a new way and more opportunities to engage with our clients, our communities, and with each other. On many occasions, I personally observed how our teams used those engagements to tactfully assure our clients, ease tensions in communities, and motivate colleagues to take action.

I am reminded of the words of our CEO, Adam Pyle, “The success of our company cannot be solely measured by financial metrics, but by the…compassion we share with our patients and each other. As we all continue to aspire towards excellence, let us remember that it is not just the accolades or the numbers that define us, but rather the respectful way we deal with each other. If we want to continue being a great company, we must protect our culture and our ethics at all costs. The world would be a much better place if everyone showed more kindness, more compassion, less judgement and more respect.”

Life Health Solutions has certainly done this well. Remember that our words have power. Let them be a force for good.

The following are some noteworthy acts inspired by kind words and deeds.

Motheo TVET College awards contract for employee wellness services

A contract for EWP services has been awarded to Life Health Solutions by the Motheo Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college. As a public TVET college in the Free State, Motheo TVET College offers engineering, business and utility studies in addition to SETA-accredited skills training. We will provide employee wellness services to their 500 employees situated at nine sites throughout the Free State – namely, Bloemfontein, Zastron, Thaba Nchu, Koffiefontein, and Botshabelo. We thank the business manager, Gaynor Smith, for making this deal possible.

Financial contracts are moving over to SAP

Currently, Life Health Solutions manages its contracts using a system called HubSpot. The challenge is that HubSpot is not a contract management system but rather a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform. Due to HubSpot's lack of fields to accommodate contract management, there has been a lot of duplication between HubSpot and manual spreadsheets, which has been a huge administrative burden for our Business Managers. Based on input from our Business Managers, and the investigation into best practices for contract management, the business has decided to move contract management to SAP. The change will take effect at the end of January 2024. From that point, the commercial team will be fully responsible for capturing and maintaining contracts on SAP.

ViGOR goes live at our pilot sites

Earlier this week, we announced that the ViGOR Occupational & Primary Health Clinical Management system went live on 10 November 2023 and has rolled out to various Life Health Solutions pilot sites across the country. The Gqeberha PE offsite clinic was the first site to go live and to conduct a live medical assessment using the digital system. To date, ViGOR is live at 10 sites – six offsite clinics and four client sites. In addition, the system was successfully rolled out to seven primary healthcare facilities, including Life Healthcare. Our team gave much fanfare for the launch. Click here to read the full story.

Beeshoek Mine gets a clean audit

Early in November, the Department of Health audited our emergency vehicles located at Anglo Heuningkrans in the Free State. The annual inspection includes the license inspections of the vehicles that we operate on client sites; in this case, Beeshoek Mine. Life Health Solutions supports Beeshoek Mine with emergency medical services and has two emergency vehicles onsite. We are happy to say that no faults or findings were found at the end of the investigation. Receiving a clean audit is no easy feat and therefore we thank all those responsible for this shining achievement.

Mahle Behr Wellness Day, Gqeberha

On 30 November, the Life Health Solutions regional team held a Wellness Day for their manufacturing client, Mahle Behr, at their clinic in Gqeberha (Eastern Cape). Life Mercantile Hospital partnered with them to conduct health screenings, including blood pressure checks, renal health checks, and glucose levels checks. There was also the option of testing for prostate-specific antigen (PSA) for men. Employee wellness training was also offered as part of the day's engagement. Based on the high attendance and good interaction, the day was a great success.

Life Healthcare hosts its annual GBV event

Life Healthcare held its annual event against gender-based violence on 29 November. This year's event included a guest speaker, panel discussion, race competition, and care bag packing. With her poetry, the guest speaker (Refilwe Matsose) reminded the audience of our power to end gender-based violence. Over the course of the day, thousands of care bags were assembled containing items such as hygiene and wash items as well as stuffed teddy bears for children.

If you have been affected by gender-based violence, support is available to you. Please reach out to our 24/7 counselling services for help on 0800 004 770.
